Trail Completion Patch
Common in New England, many hikers/runners/bikers choose to challenge themselves with trail completion or "trail tracer" (formerly called redlining) patches. Similar to hiking list patches, like the NH48 or 52WAV patches, individuals keep track of their progress on the honor system and submit to receive a patch when they've completed the challenge.
Objective: Complete all the currently used trails (official and unofficial) in North Hill Marsh and the adjacent Round Pond Conservation Areas in Duxbury, MA. Please use the DTR version of the map, which can be found here. Different maps of this area show fewer trails than there are in reality. The map was last updated with new trails on 8/1/2026.
Steps to receive a completion patch:
1. Print out DTR trail map. Highlight/trace the trails as you complete them. You may hike, bike, run... as long as you are under your own power. Please respect official trail closures and note them on your map.
2. Once you have completed all the trails, please email a picture of your completed map to Livcolombo@gmail.com. Please include the address that you wish your patch to be sent to, as well as which trail was your favorite and why! There is a $5 donation to cover the cost of patches; Liv will give you directions on how to send this.
3. Await the arrival of your patch! And ponder where to display it... a hiking pack, your running vest, a camping blanket, a bulletin board?
Other similar local challenges include the Wompatuck Trail Completion Club and Blue Hills 125 Mile Club.
